As you can imagine, one of the great joys of working in the artisan sector is witnessing all of the incredible artistry out there in the world. I see a lot of beautiful pieces and inspiring brands, but one company that stopped me in my tracks recently was The Levant Shop. It’s a brand that embodies elegance, artistry, and soul.

Founded by Naz and Sureya, Levant is an exploration of Eastern Mediterranean design and culture, celebrating a spirit of discovery and the artistic traditions of the Eastern world.

The pair grew up in New York but have varied backgrounds. Having spent significant time in the Levant region, they wanted to create a brand that could transcend cultural cliches. They wanted Levant to reflect the East that they knew growing up, which, as Sureya says, is “a complex intersection of cultures and influences.”

Their brand thoughtfully blends the contemporary and the antique. They thoughtfully design everything in-house, drawing on personal memories, motifs from the ancient world, museum archives, and impressions from their travels.
