This month, I am excited to share an inspiring interview with Harper Poe, co-founder of Proud Mary, which she founded alongside Benita Singh.
After working with global artisans for over 20 years, this duo came together to create a new model, one that brings fine art into interiors while celebrating artisans’ skilled heritage. Before starting the business, they asked themselves the hard questions - how can we create a world in which less stuff creates more impact? How can our business really benefit the artisans we’re working with?
After years of thought, experience, and number crunching, Harper and Benita launched the new Proud Mary, offering beautiful artisanal wall art. The mission is clear: “where craft becomes art and artisans become artists.”
Their model is new and innovative, collaborating with folk artists to frame their original artworks for galleries and homes. These originals are sold, and the artists receive 50% of the profit, as well as limited-edition prints of their work, for which they receive 15% of the royalties from each piece sold.
A brilliant model and beautiful products. Enjoy the interview!
