This month, I'm delighted to share an exclusive interview with curator Felipa Almeida, marking the release of her new book, Portuguese Houses With History, created with Ana Anahory. Born from nearly a decade of visiting Portuguese family homes, the book documents fifteen lived-in houses that preserve everyday histories at a time when many are being transformed by tourism. Photographed by Birgit Sfat and contextualized by historian Filipa Avellar, it’s a quiet tribute to the rare houses that remain lived-in, carrying quiet memories of everyday life.
