This past June, I traveled to Grottelie, Italy, to explore the vibrant ceramic village in Puglia's central part. Due to the region’s abundance of red clay, families have passed down their ceramic know-how for nearly four hundred years. Many are drawn to this region for the Apulian ceramics, often associated with colorful splattered earthenware (shizzato).
