This past winter, I was grateful to spend another winter in Portugal, where I continuously find myself diving deeper into the interior, each time discovering new craft villages. It’s in these rural areas that I feel the magic of the country, and I’ve had the chance to meet a number of talented artisans.
Here are some of my favorite craft villages in and around Lisbon and Alentejo, where you can pick up beautiful ceramics and textiles directly from the makers. Many of these artists are not set up for export, so it's best to bring an extra bag for you and hand-carry these special pieces back with you.
