I’ve seen for myself how sustainable tourism, when practiced well, can be a path to positive impact in destinations around the globe. It was inspiring to see a little renaissance among the island’s creatives while visiting. Many are interested in working with Mallorca’s traditional artisans, underscoring the deep respect they have for the island’s rich craft and cultural traditions. Beyond their shops, there’s a wide variety of beautiful hotels, innovative restaurants, and hidden ateliers to explore.
When planning your trip, I strongly recommend visiting during the off-season, not only to balance out the influx of tourists who flood the island during the summer but also to avoid the heat. During the off-season, you can more easily enjoy the beauty of Mallorca’s interior. That’s where you can truly sense the authenticity and daily life of the locals (like at the famed Wednesday market in Sineu). These cooler months also allow for more pleasant hiking on the incredible network of trails that cover the island.
