Since many of you who are reading this couldn't attend Maison + Objet this year, I thought I would share a brief recap of key trends, and insights.
I always find this show beautiful and inspiring. However, as someone who has attended it for many years, I noticed that it was smaller than usual. The winter show often has fewer exhibitors, but I also believe these types of events have become more challenging to justify expense-wise. Nevertheless, I still consider these shows essential for artisan brands to attract new clients. I found more buyers were traveling from the US, as Europe always seems to be a few steps ahead regarding design and trends.
In the handmade sector, I saw a lot of representation from Morocco and Portugal. I also found many other heritage businesses dotted throughout the show, so it’s a reminder to try to walk every aisle because there are many gems spread throughout.
The Signature section features high-end artisanal brands with an emphasis on design – always impresses with how these brands are able to elevate craft.
